My bike was stolen yesterday 1/3/07 between NW 21st and 23rd ave. on Glisan, around 5:00-5:30. It is greenish teal and white with white Panasonic road bike, roughly a 48cm frame with white plastic bar tape, a rear seat post mounted fender that is plastic and says “american waste” on it, no front derailer and 27″ wheels. It also has a Coventry Cycle Works sticker on the bottom of the seat tube. It was a gift from someone I love, so it means something to me. Please tell me if you see it.

npGreenway is a group of advocates working to build a trail that connects Cathedral Park in St. Johns to the terminus of the Eastbank Esplanade at the Steel Bridge. I was at their very first meeting back in November of 2005 and I have been watching their progress ever since.
In an exciting development, they have completed their visioning process and have shared a detailed map of the proposed riverfront trail. Check out the PDF (329KB) to get a sense of what they’re working on.
To stay in touch or get involved with this project, don’t miss their next public meeting on February 15th and check out their website and blog for the latest news and developments.
Just noticed that Metro has released the results of the 45-day public comment period on projects hoping to get funding through a big pot of dollars known as MTIP.
The BTA’s Policy Director Scott Bricker — who worked hard to encourage participation in this process — wrote on their blog that bicyclists commented more than any other transportation group.
Tim Becker of Northeast Portland…come on down…You’re the winner of a brand new Electra Amsterdam!
Tim joins our previous two winners, John Duffy of Vermont and Wesley Robinson of Hillsboro.
A huge thanks to everyone who entered.
Even if you didn’t win, remember that we’re all winners because your participation is a vital in keeping this site alive and I am very grateful for your support. Not only that, but I am keeping all your names on a list for future special offers and perks ;-).
I’m still working out the details of the next raffle so stay tuned for more information.
A reader recently sent me a a German news story about police and fixed-gear bicycles. Judging by the photos accompanying the story (below), he suspected (hoped) it was about how some German cops were riding fixed-gear bicycles on their bike patrols. This would be in direct contrast to Portland cops who issue citations to cyclists riding fixed-geared bicycles without a separate hand brake.
