Marauding Mystery Ride

Buffered Bike Lane with a bike symbol and arrow pointing forward

@ NW Glisan and 20th (Couch Park)

More mysterious than an MMR. The game is afoot. Everyone rides together but individual riders attempt to lead the ride to their own nefarious goals. Random elements intervene to send the ride to unknown territory. Everyone is surprised, everyone is entertained. Random riders rejoice. No experience required.

Grant Petersen Ride

@ N Ainsworth & Borthwick (Peninsula Park, steps to Rose Garden on Ainsworth St)

Calling cyclists of Bridgestone, Rivendell, and similar lugged-steel steeds with a taste for tweed, shellac, cork, and francophile tires… the Grant Petersen ride will be a rolling bike show with plenty of interesting discussion. Good natured curmudgeons gladly suffered. Grouchy know-it-alls will be dropped. No lycra.

The Great Portland Unimproved Road Ride #1

Buffered Bike Lane with a bike symbol and arrow pointing forward

@ N.E. 36th and Thompson (Grant Park)

Grab your mountain bike and let’s hit the trail, right here in the city! We will spend about 1 1/2 hours exploring several exciting places where the pavement ends and the fun begins, so change out those slicks for some knobbies and get ready for some thrills (and maybe a couple of hills, too). This ride may repeat over the next few months until we cover all the best of Portland’s unimproved roads.

Ridiculous Singletrack Ride

Buffered Bike Lane with a bike symbol and arrow pointing forward

@ SW Naito & Salmon St (Fountain)

Epic urban trail adventure. We will ride every last bit of singletrack in the Portland area, so expect to be out for a while. Approximately 65 miles of riding, with about half off-road, in one big convoluted loop. Cross or MTB strongly suggested. Expect the ride to take at least 6 hours, moving at a fun but brisk pace, with a few stops for refueling. Everything is on the menu: Forest Park, Mt Tabor, Powell Butte, as well as many secret little tracks. If you think you know about something that no one else does, let me know and we’ll put it in.

Ramona’s Ride

@ 4040 N.E. Tillamook Street (Hollywood Library)

Ramona Quimby is one of Portland’s most beloved literary characters. Most folks know she lived on NE Klickitat, but where else did she go? We’ll go for an easy ride around the neighborhood, visiting some of Ramona, Beezus, and Henry’s favorite spots and learning a little history, too. Everyone that comes gets a free Ramona related goody!

Do you like biking, but feel like you need a car or bus to get that bookcase home, or 3 bags of potting soil?
A bike trailer allows you to fill the gap between a bike and a car. Now your bike can be used to bring kids to school, get rid of an old computer monitor, or even plant a tree. Learn the ropes of building and using bike trailers.
