This bike is a hybrid men’s commuter, with a metallic rear rack, 21 speed, 22.5 frame. It had black plastic fenders on front and back. Also stolen with two grey vinyl side bags.

Stolen Diamond Back Unknown

It is a red Diamond Back full suspension mountain bike with stickers on about fifty percent of the frame. The frame is 18 inches it has 5.5 inches of suspension travel in the rear shock and 5 in the front. It has a seat bag and light mount in the back. on the handle bars their is a light mount and a gps. The front brake adjustment screw is stripped. it has front and rear disc brakes, and metal bmx pedals.

OBRA announces leadership changes

The Oregon Bicycle Racing Association (OBRA) has just announced major leadership changes.

The OBRA Board of Directors has named T. Kenji Sugahara as the Assistant Director with the intention that he will advance to the Executive Director role within the next twelve months.

Current Executive Director Candi Murray — a recent inductee to the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame who announced her plans to retire last October — made the announcement.

Cross Crusade kicks off Sunday

Prepare yourselves. The Cross Crusade — the world’s largest cyclocross series in terms of participation — kicks off this weekend at Alpenrose Dairy.

The event is going to be insane. Last year they had over 800 racers at Alpenrose and I have a hunch they’re going to hit 1,000 this time around. From pros to average Joes, ‘cross racing has something for everyone.

The Sprockettes, like you’ve never seen them before

Last week I had the pleasure of doing a photo shoot for the beautiful and talented mini-bike dance troupe, The Sprockettes. During the shoot, someone suggested forming the letter “S” with their bodies.

That went so well, I figured what the heck, let’s go all the way. Here’s the result (I like how their arms look like links in a chain):

The BTA hosted an awards party for their Bike Commute Challenge last night: luckily not everyone who participated showed up.

Even though attendance at the party was double what organizers expected (over 400 people packed the inner-Southeast venue), the BTA revealed that nearly 10,000 Oregonians (and some Washingtonians) from 889 registered companies logged at least one trip as part of this year’s Challenge.

US DOT Secretary responds to bike path slam: advocates should take note

Back in August, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Mary Peters raised a ruckus for comments she made on a PBS talkshow.

When the conversation turned to transportation investments, Peters referred to “bike paths” as not being transportation infrastructure (she lumped them in with museums and lighthouses).

The comment raised the ire of many bike advocates and even the Director of the League of American Bicyclists, who called Peters out and demanded that she correct the “misleading impressions”.

Now, Peters has tried to do just that with a letter that showed up in inboxes of cyclists around the country this morning.
