Last night, a group of Northwest Portland neighborhood leaders, grassroots activists and bike advocates met on NW Flanders Blvd. for a rally to demonstrate support for re-using the Sauvie Island Bridge span over I-405.
Also joining the crowd of about 100 were city council candidates Jim Middaugh, Jeff Bissonnette, and Chris Smith along with mayoral candidate Jim Lee.
Jessica Osborne, the woman who was hit by a man driving a car and left for dead near the intersection of Albina and Rosa Parks Way in North Portland on April 3rd, has re-entered the hospital and the car of the suspect might have been found.
According to her friend Amy Wolf, Osborne was admitted to Emanuel Legacy hospital on Tuesday to have her spleen removed. She remains hospitalized and is recovering from the surgery.
Also, according to Wolf and other sources, the police might have found the car that was involved in the collision.

Local organizers for Barack Obama’s presidential campaign and for Commissioner Sam Adams’ mayoral campaign will take to the streets by bike tomorrow.
According to Tyler Wardwell, one of Obama’s field organizers in Multnomah County, Obama supporters will meet up at their campaign headquarters in Southeast Portland and set out into the neighborhood for “some green grassroots organizing — biking door-to-door, registering voters and sharing our stories of why we support Barack.”
Not surprisingly, there are a lot of rides and events happening this Earth Day weekend. Most of the action happens on Saturday, but there’s an event on Sunday that you might not have heard of yet — a ride and rally to benefit b.i.k.e..
b.i.k.e. stands for Bicycles and Ideas for Kids Empowerment, a local non-profit group that works to get at-risk youths off the streets and onto bikes. With their fearless leader (and jazz aficionado) John Benanate at the helm, the group is making exciting in-roads and reaching kids that most bike groups just pedal right by.
As many readers have already noticed, the ghost bike for Brett Jarolimek at N. Interstate and Greeley has gone missing — again.
Back in February, a confused thief took the bike, only to return it soon after with an apologetic note.
This time, the bike has been stashed along the side of the N Greeley Avenue about a mile away and the mementos at the site have been strewn about in bushes nearby.
