Karl Rohde, the BTA’s head of public affairs and governmental relations, reports on the BTA blog that he had a “productive meeting” with Captain Vince Jarmer of the Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division yesterday.
They met to discuss the many enforcement-related issues that the BTA (and many in the community) are concerned about.
Karl shared a list of things they’ve agreed upon (emphasis is mine):
mountain bike with easyseat (with cable lock) and smooth tires. Has front shocks and toe cages. The rubber on the handel grips have been trimmed to accomodate extender bars, but the bars were not on the bike when it was taken.

On Sunday November 25th, Portland Racing brings you the second edition of the Kruger’s Crossing Cyclocross Classic. This epic race will be held at Kruger’s Farm, located in the beautiful countryside of Sauvie Island (only 20 minutes from downtown Portland!).
This will NOT be your usual cross race! Besides the challenges thrown at us by the November weather gods, you can expect a wild course that will lead you along rutted farm roads, through berry fields, pastures, a barn, a beer garden, and – weather and course conditions permitting – the much-heralded corn maze!

9:55am – Men C, Masters C 35+, Unicycle (45 min)
11:00am – Masters B 35+, Clydesdale, Junior Men (45 min)

A family friendly ride with the Clever Cycles community. After a day of indulgence we’ll all need some fresh air and a good leg stretcher, so join us on an easy paced ride around SE Portland.
Who:
Anyone riding a Bakfiets, City bike, Xtracycle, Cargo bike, Folding bike and even “regular” bikes are welcome. Bring the kids and a few friends along.

The Day After, Black Firday, November 23 meet at Clever Cycles (908 SE Hawthorne) at 12 noon for some easy pedaling fun. We will end back at the shop with Hot Cider and treats.

A photo essay that documents the American cyclocross scene is coming to Portland.
Washed in the Mud: US Cyclcross Portraits is the work of Santa Cruz, California-based filmmaker and photographer Brian Vernor. Vernor, who’s best known for his work on “Pure, Sweet Hell”, traveled with the U.S. Gran Prix of Cyclocross last season documenting racers, fans, and insiders for a distinctive, off-the-course look at the sport.

Back in September I shared the news about a potential new indoor velodrome coming to the Oregon State Fairgrounds in Salem.
Now it seems like plans are moving forward and Oregon just might host bicycle track racing at the State Fair as early as this summer. Steve Brown, a track racer and head of Portland Velodrome, says noted velodrome architect Peter Junek has submitted a proposal to Oregon State Parks for the construction of a portable velodrome inside the Pavillion Building on the State Fairgrounds.
A group of bicycle advocates in Southwest Portland have unveiled their latest map of proposed bikeway improvements. The group, SWTrails, has been working for nearly a year to come up with recommendations that they plan to present to the Portland Office of Transportation (PDOT) for consideration in the ongoing update of the Bicycle Master Plan.
Central to SWTrails’ effort is the creation of a map that includes the types of bike facility improvements they would like to see. Back in March, I shared the first version of this map and I just received the latest version this morning.
