Stolen From: Locked to a sign post on NE Fremont near the corner of 7th – Irving Park
Neighborhood: Fremont/Irvington/Boise
Owner: Tanya Barham
OwnerEmail: tanyabarham@gmail.com
Reward: Warm, fuzzy feeling
Description: My Electra Amsterdam Royal was stolen from the corner of 7th and NE Fremont near Irving Park sometime between Wednesday evening August 10th and Friday August 12th.
Black male model Amsterdam bike with enclosed chain case.
Large Faded red and white rear panniers (clever monkey brand?) – one of the straps was broken on the panniers and the red tops were faded –
Rear bike light not operation
Front generator bike light needed bulb replacement
Rear wheel was flat when stolen (which is why the bike was locked there in the first place)
The bike has a black Wald cycles basket on the front and as a result the front generator light was lower than it typically would be to accomodate the basket
There was a clever cycles decal on the bike. I think I purchased the bike in 2008 or 2009. Please email me if you see this bike or if someone tries to sell it to you.

Watch the BTA’s new “Roll on, Oregon” promotional video

– Watch it below –
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) held their annual member meeting earlier this week. Unfortunately I wasn’t there, but from what I’ve heard it was a very solid event. In addition to their new 20-year vision and Strategic Plan, the BTA shared a new promotional video at the event.
Asphalt mix-up closes bike gaps on SE 20th/Ankeny median – Updated

If you’re one of the over 1,200 or so people who ride on SE Ankeny every day, be extra careful when you get to SE 20th. Earlier today, city crews filled in the gaps that allow bikes to pass through the median island (see photo below). The City says it was just a mistake and they plan to clean it up as early as tomorrow morning.
I got several reports from readers concerned that people would be caught off guard when they try to ride through.
Bridge Pedal from above: An aerial photo essay revisited
Two years ago, the fine folks at Bridge Pedal gave me the opportunity to fly over the ride in a helicopter. With my camera and a five-point harness firmly buckled around me, I flew high above the iconic event and got a perspective on our city that I’ll never forget.
With the 16th edition of the ride happening this Sunday, I thought it’d be fun to take a look back at what I saw…
Survivor of Division tragedy says car “came directly into the bike lane” (Updates)

The two people on bikes involved in a fatal hit-and-run collision early this morning did not know each other. One of the two was 17-year old Portlander Kevin Phomma. Phomma was riding in front of the man who was killed, and, after the collision, he flagged down a passing Portland Police officer.
Phomma is an avid rider who is active on the PDXFixed online community, worked as an intern at 21st Avenue Bicycles, and is the youngest member of Team Trusty Switchblade.
Phomma left a comment on BikePortland about the collision a few minutes ago (emphasis mine):
