General Position Summary

The Used Inventory Coordinator is responsible for the processing, tracking, reuse, and redirection of all Community Cycling Center bike-related donations. This position will implement and supervise best practices in pricing, merchandising, identification, and harvesting of used bicycle components as well as the storage, transportation and tracking of donated bicycles.

The Used Inventory Coordinator leads our organizational effort to reuse & redistribute donated materials, with a goal of reducing the amount of usable materials that must be recycled or disposed of. This position focuses on managing donated materials, with an eye toward ease, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. The Used Inventory Coordinator is also expected to clearly document our reuse and recycling efforts, with a goal of informing future practices and helping us better explain the environmental impacts and benefits of our work.

Ideal candidates will have experience in a high-volume bike shop environment, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to innovate and develop systems.

Essential Job Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Used Inventory Coordination (60%)

-Train and supervise staff and volunteers in the harvesting, pricing, cleaning, and organization of donated goods
-Improve systems to better recognize and harvest usable parts off of unusable bicycles
-Develop and implement procedures to help consistently reduce the waste created from operations
-Work with Retail Manager to creatively store, display and merchandize used parts and accessories in our shop
-Maximize utilization of all reuse outlets including shop sales, online sales, program delivery, reuse partnerships, and on-site salvage sales
-Maintain appropriate used inventory stock levels for retail and production activities
-Facilitate a weekly Salvage Sale and Recycling Volunteer Group, also Assist with facilitation of outreach events and other volunteer groups
-Engage Volunteers regularly in our reuse and recycling activities
-Track and assess current reuse and recycling efforts on a quarterly basis, with an eye towards consistent improvement
-Create and maintain recycling and reuse partnerships
-Work closely with New Inventory Coordinator to ensure that shop floor is well stocked and that new and used inventory complement one another

Bike Inventory Management (40%)

-Organize and maintain multiple bicycle storage locations and efficiently transport bicycles between those locations when necessary
-Engage volunteers in bicycle transportation and storage
-Ensure adequate bicycle inventory to fulfill shop sales goals for as-is and refurbished bicycle demands, as well as programs and events contracts
-Track and report bicycle donations and total bicycle inventory monthly, with an eye toward ways to more efficiently use and store the bikes
-Work closely with the Volunteer and Events Staff to set targets for off-site bike collections; staff selected collection events
-Maintain appropriate weekly flow of bicycle inventory for production activities, working closely with Program staff and the Production Manager

General Qualifications:

-Ability to troubleshoot problems and seek out creative solutions
-Commitment to the concept of environmental sustainability
-Innovative evaluation and development of organizational systems and structures
-Familiarity and working knowledge of a large variety of new and used bicycle related components and materials
-Must have valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving a box truck
-Enthusiasm for working with diverse audiences
-Experience coordinating volunteers
-Knowledge of fundamental retail framework
-Ability to meet project deadlines and account for detailed objectives

PAY RATE & BENEFITS:

Term: Permanent
Salary range: $12.89 – $17.00/hour DOE
Schedule: 5-day week, workdays vary based on demands and season
