Executive Summary
The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) is a non-profit membership organization with a mission to create healthy, sustainable communities by making bicycling safer, more convenient and more accessible in Oregon and SW Washington.

The BTA is looking to fill an exciting and vital position with our organization. We are looking for a Development Director who is committed to building a dynamic and productive development program that will help our organization grow. The primary responsibilities of the Development Director are to diversify and double our revenue over three years by expanding our foundation and corporate gifts as well as increasing our individual donors and to set up an effective team that will grow our membership and activate our members as donors.

Responsibilities
Fundraising and Corporate Sponsorship
• Grow foundation giving from $125,000 to $175,000 by the end of year three.
• Grow corporate sponsorship from $100,000 to $150,000 by the end of year three. Re-value current sponsorship opportunities and grow new packages.
• Identify and coordinate event fundraising opportunities
• Manage the BTA’s foundation and agency relationships
• Ensure that donor requirements for data collection and program outcomes are well matched to organizational capacity and workplans
• Drive and grow the BTA’s annual fundraising event, the Alice Awards + Auction

Membership Development
• Grow individual donations from $250,000 to $325,000 by the end of year three.
• Set standard for 50% of all members donating above basic membership levels
• Develop and manage membership recruitment campaign to grow from 4,000 members to 6,000 by year three.
• Set standard for membership retention to 60% by building effective member services program with competent staff and leadership.
• Write and coordinate special appeal and planned giving opportunities
• Maintain and develop prospect lists
• Grow the BTA’s business membership program

Fiscal and Administrative Management
• Work in partnership with the Executive Director and the Finance Director to manage budget priorities and fundraising opportunities to support the BTA’s strategic plan.
• Understand the financial framework of the organization and monitor appropriate financial measures including membership retention, membership gains, major donor prospect and event revenue.
• Manage BTA’s contact management system in Salesforce to ensure efficient and dynamic communication with supporters
• Regularly interpret and use revenue data to make informed decisions and recommendations regarding budget administration.
• Increase revenue from BTA merchandise sales

Team Leadership
• Provide strong leadership and management to permanent direct reports (Membership Services Coordinator, Business Services Coordinator)
• Provide leadership and support to contract and/or non-direct report staff (Alice Awards and Auction Event Coordinator, Technology Resource Manager).

Requisite Experience
• Bachelor’s degree and more than 5 years of management level development experience including contact relationship management, major donor acquisition and cultivation, grant writing, direct mailing, online fundraising and event management.
• Professional development in fundraising, marketing and event management
• Passion for bicycle transportation and/or an interest in creating livable, healthy and sustainable communities
