Job: Fiscal Operations Coordinator – OTREC

The Oregon Transportation Research and Education Consortium (OTREC) at Portland State University invites applications for a Fiscal Operations Coordinator.

OTREC is a National University Transportation Center funded by the U.S. Department of Transportation, and is dedicated to collaborative, multimodal, multidisciplinary, multi-campus research, education, and technology transfer transportation initiatives. This position is responsible for all accounting and budgeting for OTREC. Proven financial, organizational, analytical, budgetary, and tracking skills are essential. The Fiscal Operations Coordinator tracks budgets, expenses, encumbrances, and projections for all OTREC programs and leads the OTREC annual budgeting process, preparing budget detail and recommendations to the Director. The Coordinator will work with other campus units, and will coordinate fiscal reporting to the federal sponsor. The Coordinator will manage budget aspects of OTREC’s annual Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and ongoing research, education and technology transfer projects. Other responsibilities include inventorying and documenting all matching funds and general accounting (reviewing and generating invoices, POs, travel, and personnel).

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years work experience in accounting and finance in a multi-budget environment, and strong knowledge of university procedures, with proficiency in Microsoft programs. Highly developed collaborative, motivational, organizational, technical, managerial, outreach, and teamwork capabilities are critical. Experience working with faculty, students, external partners, and sponsors in an academic environment and experience with federal grants and local match requirements is preferable. Excellent communication skills (written and oral) are necessary. A bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field is required and a CPA or Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
