on january 2nd or 3rd, my partner’s highly customized schwinn super sport road bike, ca. 2004, was stolen from the mudroom of our house in north portland. it had a charcoal frame with yellow handlebar tape. most distinguishing was its custom pannier racks, built by her father. forged out of a single piece of raw aluminum each, the custom racks looped on each side of the wheel and then once over the tire. (imagine a rollercoaster with two loop-de-loops connected at the top.) as for the frame itself, the serial # is IDT4-31078.
here’s the information on everything else custom that went into this bike:
1. Compact crank
2. SPD pedals
3. Shimano 9.0 chain
4. ” ” XT 11/34 Cassette
5. FSA 38mm wide drop bars
6. Salsa stem
7. 2/700×28 Specialized Armadillos, tubes
8. bar wraps
9. custom pannier racks
10.Shimano 105 STIs
11, ” ” XT long arm rear derailur
12. bottle cages
13. bar end corks
any information leading to the finding of the bike will be rewarded with ample beer and cheerful conversation.
