Gateway – A BIPOC Community MTB Event

Gateway  – A gathering for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who ride mountain bikes.

Join BikePOCpnw & NWTA to celebrate the diversity in the sport of mountain biking at Gateway Green, Portland’s only Mountain Bike Park. This is an event to create a space for people of color who do not normally feel safe in the outdoors to meet, gather & ride mountain bikes together. If you do not identify as BIPOC & are an ally we ask that you support our efforts by becoming a member of Northwest Trail Alliance at nw-trail.org/join.

Event Details:

  • Sunday 9/5 from 10 am – 2 pm
  • Gateway Green, Portland, OR – meet at “The Hub” to check in & get your raffle ticket!
  • This event adheres to the lastest recommendations from THE CDC regarding COVID-19. Although this event is outdoors masks/face-coverings are required when distancing of 6′ is not possible.
  • Families Welcome.
  • Helmets Required.
  • Any bike that can handle off-road terrain is welcome.
  • This park is car-free! Walkers and bicycle riders can reach the site via the I-205 multi-use path, or ride MAX and buses to the Gateway Regional Center and follow the multi-use path north for about a half-mile to the park entrance.
  • Parking – Fred Meyer – Gateway has graciously offered the parking lot that faces the Gateway Regional Center (NE 99th & NE Pacific) for this events use.
  • Raffle Prizes (must be present to win) from the many sponsors listed below!
  • Organic group rides (all skill levels).

Cultura Bike Ride

“***The ride is only for Latinx and BI-POC friends. (sorry Non-BI-POC friends)***

A continuation of the Perreo Bike Ride titled “Cultura Ride,” for its diverse Latinx Culture.
This is number two of the three featured bike rides for the summer designed for all Latinx and BIPOC folx. This time around we will be cycling through the streets of Beaverton while bumping Reggeaton, Cumbias, Merengue and anything that gets las caderas moving.

The ride itself will be 8-10miles with some hills but, we’ll take our time and make sure no one is left behind regardless of skill level. We’ll be making 2 stops one park and a tienda to fuel up, before finishing at a near by park close to a Max line.

As always bring those good vibes, and bring the primos, primas, they, them y toda La Clika. We want to create a safe and fun environment for everybody in attendance. No violence or ignorance will be tolerated. Leave the drama at home.

For our non-BI-POC supporters, please respect this and share this event with your BI-POC friends and colleagues.

This ride is for adoptees of color to connect, share space, and enjoy riding bikes together.

Location Laurelhurst Park, SE Oak & 37th

Perreo Bike Ride

Welcome to the first Perreo Bike Ride of the year! The first of three featured rides this summer. All Latinx and BIPOC welcome regardless of skill level. We will be cruising the streets of SE and E Hillsboro while bumping nothing but Perreo Music making occasional stops throughout different parks in Hillsboro. Ride will loop beginning at the Civic Center in Downtown Hillsboro and end at Shute Park. The route will be mainly flat with a couple of inclined streets along the way. We will be riding at a comfortable pace that accommodates all riders in the group. Bring drinks and snacks for the ride. There is a Plaid Pantry across the street from Shute park.

The Civic Center is a couple blocks away from the Hillsboro Transit Center for easier access for riders coming from Portland.

Bring a good attitude. We want to create a safe and fun environment for everybody in attendance. No violence or ignorance will be tolerated. Leave the drama at home. For our non-BI-POC supporters, please respect this and share this event with your BI-POC friends and colleagues.

BIPOC Mountain Bikers Group Ride!

“This Sunday (7/4), join Punneh & Ruandy for a no-drop mountain bike ride.

10am @ Sandy Ridge. The ride will be between 7-9 miles, including 2000 feet of elevation gain. All skill levels welcome. Bring your mountain bike, snacks, and water. @roo_media & @punneh.a will provide some skill-building and help navigate the trail system. Reach out if you have any questions.

We look forward to seeing folks out on the trail and post ride we’ll have a little hang out in the parking lot if you want to bring some snacks/drinks to share for that.
