Online map helps you find a (bike) ride to Sunday’s Build Less Bridge Rally

Current routes to the rally

Planning to attend Sunday’s Build Less Bridge CRC Opposition and Alternatives Rally?

A new online map can help you meet up with other folks riding from your part of town, or organize a feeder ride of your own.

The event is on Sunday, April 5th at noon in Waterfront Park under the west side of the Morrison Bridge.

Routes on the map so far leave from places like Vancouver, St. John’s, Cully, Northwest, Mount Tabor, and the Woodstock neighborhood. Each route stops at one or more parks along the way to pick up more riders and join forces with other rides.

Meeting points are marked with a bicycle icon — click on the icon to see the exact location and the time the ride will leave each spot.

If you don’t see a ride meetup point in your part of town, consider leading a ride yourself. Email map creator Adams Carroll to add your route to the public map.

We’ll keep you posted with updates about the rally, and you can also join its Facebook group or join planning discussions on the Shift email list.

Thank you Adam for creating this map and to everyone leading and joining rides to the CRC Citizen’s Opposition And Alternatives Rally, you have my gratitude. See you Sunday April 5th Noon Waterfront at the Morrison Bridge. BY the way senator Don Benton from Washington’s 17th district found daylight in his schedule and has agreed to speak at the rally.

Adam, that map is the purest expression of awesome. Thank you, thank you!!

VANCOUVER!!!
Can you hear me? Swing by Esther Short Park (by the clock) 10:30. This is important! This bridge will affect the accessibility, vitality, and accessibility of West Vancouver as far north as Hazel Dell for as long as the bridge stands. If we’ve got to do it, let’s at least do it right.

If you’re worried about being able to bicycle the whole distance, we’ll set you up with a Max connection. (we go kinda slow, anyway, we won’t leave anyone behind under any circumstances) Drive if you have to. Just be there. We don’t need 6 additional lanes of freeway traffic barging through our neighborhoods; or 6 additional lanes paving over our homes.
I’ll see you there!

Vancouver, the bike over the bridge is fun. It is one of my pleasures a few times a month. If you are biking over the bridge from Vancouver, I will likely meet you along the way as you move through north Portland. Cheers.

OK, I give up. How exactly is this going to change anything?

If you deluded idiots think Scoutmaster Sam cares what you think, you ought to share what you’re smoking.

Jack Blog:

While you’re driving down the Mt Hood Expressway this morning over the ruins of the Clinton/Division neighborhood, and cross the bridge onto Harbor Drive expressway, you might think that the citizens of this town have no voice. And you would be wrong.

Jack – the point of this campaign – kicking off with the rally, is b/c we realize that Sam Adams does not have our back on the bridge. And Newsflash, get enough of a communitiy’s constituents together voicing disapproval has been known to get the attention of politicians. Furthermore, this is not a campaign against Adams or any politicians. It’s a push against the current scope and direction of the project and offering alternatives that are cheaper and create a smaller eco footprint. But if you are going to refer to us as deluded idiots my guess is you don’t want real debate about this anyway.

Strange bedfellows…Don Benton. Yeah, he might oppose the CRC, but only because he wants a THIRD bridge east of I-205 (now THAT would be a structure that induces demand…) and Benton is totally opposed to spending money on light rail and bike and pedestrian infrastructure.
