Organization: The Community Cycling Center is a 501(c)3 that works to broaden access to cycling and its benefits through hands-on programs and neighborhood bike shop. We believe bicycles are a tool for empowerment and a vehicle for change and we are actively seeking opportunities to reach a wider audience for our programs and services in a responsible and productive manner.

Essential Job Functions:

The Program Director is a highly responsible position reporting to the Executive Director to create strategic programs and partnerships for existing and future Community Cycling Center programs for families, youth and adults. The Program Director will research and recommend strategic initiatives that are aligned with the mission; develop and oversee the quality of programs; research, develop and report government and foundation grants; formulate and coordinate program evaluations; recruit, hire and train staff; collaborate with other Community Cycling Center staff to deliver programs and participate in special events.

Program Responsibilities
• Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships to ensure positive and productive collaboration to expand access to bicycling in the Portland Metro region;
• Analyze, research and recommend programs to create strong proposals for government, foundation and individual funding;
• Formulate and coordinate formal and informal evaluations of programs;
• Recruit, hire, train, evaluate and manage skilled program staff to implement programs;
• Implement programs;
• Keep internal and external partners updated through clear communications;
• Participate in organizational oversight along with other managers.

Qualifications
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience in education or program development/evaluation preferred;
• At least five years’ experience teaching experiential education to both youth and adults in a health, transportation, environmental, or related education setting;
• Working knowledge of best practices in experiential education including but not limited to developmental stages of learning, inquiry-based learning, student-centered teaching, collaborative learning, and culturally-appropriate teaching, and multiple intelligences;
• Working knowledge of evaluation methods and systems including but not limited to logic models, theories of change, quantitative and qualitative methods, and authentic assessment;
• Knowledge of program content including, but not limited to basic bicycle maintenance, safe riding skills, route mapping, rules of the road, bicycling resources;
• Knowledge of local, regional, and national bicycle programs and policies;
• Experience developing effective proposals for federal, state, or private funding;
• At least three year’s experience successfully managing staff;
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
• Exceptional communication. Ability to recognize opportunities, and communicate effectively inside and outside the agency;
• Strong public relations skills, including the ability to reason diplomatically and productively;
• Excellent presentation skills. Includes the ability to communicate with diverse groups and individuals;
• Proficiency in grammar, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
• Ability to work with and interact positively with staff, donors, and volunteers.

PAY RATE & BENEFITS:
Status: Regular, Full-Time, non-exempt
Compensation: $36,000, Paid Time Off (PTO), health benefits after successfully completing 3 month evaluation period.
