Description: It was a Red Novara Divano. 2011. It had Shimano lower end components. The handle bars and tape are black and were in great shape. The left shifter /break hand was tweaked inward a bit from a past fall. It had fenders on both wheels. The handle bars had two mounts for two front lights. ( I had taken the lights off but the mounts were still intact) there was also a mount on the frame that would have held a tire pump. ( which I also took off) and of course a water bottle holder. All of the extras I mentioned are all black. Basically a normal nice looking road bike. 🙁

‘Cirque du Cycling’ returns to Mississippi Ave

Cirque du Cycling Race-6

The Cirque du Cycling is much more than
just a bike race (but that part is pretty awesome).
(Photos © J. Maus/BikePortland)

After a one-year hiatus, one of our favorite events, the Cirque du Cycling, is set for a triumphant return. The Cirque du Cycling is an awesome mix of family-friendly street festival and top-notch bicycle race. This year, organizers have planned kids activities, a cargo bike race, and the main event: a criterium that blasts through the streets of North Mississippi Avenue just a few feet from roaring spectators.

We’re excited to see this event return after it ran into funding and management troubles in 2012.

The fun will start at 4:00 on Friday, August 9th at the “Family Fun Zone” at the Q Center (Mason & Mississippi). There will be games, music, and crafts for the kids, along with a bike decorating station. At 5:00, there will be a three-mile family bike ride up to Peninsula Park.

Then the racing starts.

for free fixes of bikes and clothing.

Editors at The New York Times aren’t the only ones who know Portland is an epicenter of fashion and bicycling. One of the most respected names in the history of fashion, Levi’s, has announced their six-city 2013 Bike Shop Tour and Portland is the first stop on their list. Themed, “Go to Work” and aimed at promoting their Commuter apparel line, a crew from Levi’s will roll into Portland with their mobile bike shop and sewing studio on August 6th.

Other stops on the tour include San Francisco, Denver, Minneapolis, Austin and Brooklyn.

Similar to a stop they made here last summer (they set up outside Pacific Northwest College of Art on NW 13th and Johnson), the Levi’s Bike Shop will offer free bike tune-ups and washing, basic repairs, and tailoring. This year, the shop will be located at Wonder Ballroom (128 NE Russell Street) and will be open from 5:00 to 9:00 pm.

Checking in on the 20s Bikeway Project

NE 28th Avenue and Davis commercial district

The commercial district at NE 28th and Davis is popular
and pleasant for humans in part because
it was developed as a streetcar suburb in the 1910s.

One of the big annoyances of getting around Portland’s inner east side by bike is the shortage of good ways to get north or south. A project that could become Portland’s best such link (and might thereby improve the route for driving, too) is about to kick off.

The project won’t reach its full design for a year, but it already has a few detractors, and there are a few significant hurdles on the horizon. After a reader tipped us off about neighbors who are concerned about how the project will impact parking and auto access, we figured it was time to check in and bring you up to speed.

The 9.1-mile 20s Bikeway Project is one of the centerpieces of the Bicycle Master Plan passed in 2009. Right now, it’s mostly just a line on a map, a federal grant for $2.5 million, and a target completion date of 2015.

10 day closure of Interstate Bridge path starts today at noon

Ride Along with Branden Shelby-8

Southbound path of Interstate Bridge will
have to handle more bikers and walkers going both
directions from today through August 9th.

The Oregon Department of Transportation issued a statement last night to warn travelers that the northbound biking and walking path on the Interstate Bridge will close for 10 days. The closure begins today (7/31) at noon and goes through August 9th.

ODOT says the northbound path will close 24/7 so crews can work on the steel gussets along the side of the bridge. “The sidewalk closure is needed so the contractor can use equipment to lower themselves over the side of the bridge to perform repairs,” ODOT said in an official statement.
