Buffered Bike Lane with a bike symbol and arrow pointing forward

Attention, mechanics:

The CCC is the most giving bike group in Portland, they offer hundreds of free bikes to the community. The holiday bike drive is their signature event. They have a lot of bikes that need some wrenching. The bikes are already cleaned and are ready to be adjusted. I went last week, there’s plenty of available bike stands, come on down. Don’t wait till the last minute, there’s plenty of opportunities to help.

What; Wrenching on Kids bikes.
When: Every Thursday this month
Time: 7-9:30

Hope to see you there!

Small Museums by Bike: Milwaukie’s Best
Keana’s Candyland (5314 SE Milwaukie), Portland
(Half a day adventure – rain or shine)

From the best of Milwaukie Avenue (Keana’s Candyland!) to the Best of Milwaukie, Oregon, join us as we explore by bike. The past (bing cherry originated) and the present (Dark Horse Comics) makes Milwaukie a destination spot. And lucky for us, downtown Milwaukie is only about a mile south of Sellwood. We’ll check out the Sunday farmer’s market, the Milwaukie Museum (free admission), and also make a special ride out to the WWII Bomber Gas Station & Restaurant – just for curiosities sake. Downtown Milwaukie also has a Post office that shares the building with an archery store – now that’s unique. Local Milwaukien, Matt Picio, will be a generous host along with Carye Bye, director of the Bathtub Art Museum. Bring a lunch or snack to eat on route, or money for the farmer’s market.Note: Keana’s will have coffee, morning pastries, and of course chocolately goodness (lots of vegan they say) for those who need a little kick on a Sunday’s morning. We’ll head out about 11:45 am

Many savvy Portland cyclists know which streets are bike boulevards, but because most of them lack design cues or visible markings, their designation is unknown to most; especially to motorists.

Now, as part of a new Bicycle Boulevard Marking Demonstration Project, PDOT plans to “combine several design elements to communicate to all road users the priority of cyclists.”

As part of the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail Project, Metro is looking for your input to design “vibrant, attractive and safe” light rail stations.

Here’s more from Metro:

“Light rail stations have the ability to transform the communities they are in. Areas that have stations become destinations for commerce and gathering places for local residents…

…The workshops will help to identify important information such as station access for riders, street improvements, traffic circulation for affected vehicles, transit connections and redevelopment opportunities.”
