Started in San Francisco in 2005, this event now happens all over the world on the third Friday in September. The idea is to take over a parking spot and replace it with a fun and functional public space where folks can hang out. The event shows people what’s possible when we allocate public right-of-way in a more humane way that puts people before car storage.
