A chat with Maria Boustead of Po Campo bags

Thanks to Twitter, I was able to connect with Maria Boustead from Chicago-based Po Campo bags while she was in Portland this past weekend.

Po Campo launched last summer with bags for women who want style and function that look good on and off the bike. The company has only been around for about a year but they’ve already gained a strong foothold in Chicago and several other cities where urban biking is on the rise. The bags are also sold in Japan, the Netherlands, Australia and the U.K..

A key group of elected officials and transportation bigwigs from Oregon and Washington convened this morning and agreed to adopt a major set of recommendations that will move the Columbia River Crossing project forward. The Project Sponsors Council unanimously agreed to push ahead on a 10-lane bridge and also agreed on significant changes to the Hayden Island interchange.

The San Francisco bike infrastructure injunction has been lifted! The city is preparing to roll out 35 bike lanes that it’s planned over the last four years, during which bicycling rates in the city have skyrocketed.

– Blueprint America’s special report on the supposedly simple act of crossing the street in an Atlanta suburb is a harrowing and inspiring call for immediate and necessary reconsideration of car-centric planning. Watch the 8 minute video here.
