Stolen: Trek 7500fx

My bike was stolen this morning, Sun., Aug. 20, 2006 at approximately 11:00AM. It was locked to a bike rack on the Johnson St. side of REI with a combination cable lock.

Description: 2002 Trek 7500FX, blue and silver, 27 spd. It has a black rack on the back, handlebar extenders, “city clips” on the pedals, mounts on the handlebars for wireless computer (also little round silver transmitter on front wheel) and headlight. Red pepper bell. Bontrager wheels.

Also stolen was a red helmet with a mermaid riding on the top.

i don;t know if the bike was locked in that REI “shelter” there on the side of the building but what seemed like a good idea is really an ideal place for a crook to work on a bike lock. its too bad; i’m sure REI had good intentions.

i always lock up on the sidewalk racks/trees.
