The just-opened Little Red Bike Cafe in North Portland is continuing their march toward the title of Most Bike Friendly Cafe in town.
Their menu features bikey selections, their roof is adorned with a bike sculpture, and this weekend they’ll throw a big grand opening party that will benefit the Safe Routes to School program at a local elementary school.
The Safe Routes benefit idea was made possible by one of the cafe’s best customers: former BTA staffer Robert Ping (he now works on Safe Routes at the national level) who lives just down the street.
Cafe owner Evan Jepson-Dohrmann says Robert will have a booth set up for free helmet fittings, and that they’ll be, “doing some crazy ‘Back to School’ inspired ice cream treats and the ladies next door at the beauty bar are doing a raffle for spa treatments whee a portion of the proceeds go to benefit Safe Routes to School.”
Sounds like a good time for a good cause.
