PBOT has once again decided to create a loop of streets in East Portland carfree for five hours this Sunday. This crazy scheme to force people out of their cars and into the streets to meet their neighbors and enjoy their community is called “Sunday Parkways”. Not satisfied with simply making streets carfree, PBOT has also invited organizations, food vendors, and entertainers to set up in the parks and streets.

Before you head out to see what this event is all about, check out the map and other details on the City of Portland website.

Last year, we had a great time at this event. This time around, we’re especially excited because the Springwater Corridor is back on the map. In addition to two miles of Springwater bliss, PBOT has mapped out a loop (seven miles total) that connects Lents, Bloomington, Ed Benedict and Gilbert Heights Parks.

For a bit of inspiration and to remind you how great Sunday Parkways is, check out our photo slideshow from last year’s East Portland event…

*In case you didn’t notice, this post was sort of meant to be funny. I’m not that good at humor. Sorry.
