Our first Neighborhood Get Together, in St Johns last month, was a lot of fun and a definite success.
To keep the wheels turning, this month we’re headed to Southwest Portland. Come join us on Tuesday, March 3rd from 5 to 7pm at the Lucky Lab in Multnomah Village, at 7675 SW Capitol Hwy.
improvements planned for SW Portland.
If you live, work, or ride in and around the far Southwest, we’d love to meet you and discuss the local bike scene. General advocacy, bike fun, PBOT plans — bring your insights, questions, and ideas.
Far Southwest Portland is home to many people who regularly ride bikes.
Last year, PBOT took their SmartTrips outreach program to this area.
The area is also home to SW Trails, an active advocacy group that says they want to be Platinum too.
SW Trails, spearheaded by uber-advocate Keith Liden, have put together a comprehensive strategy to establish a network of safe and connected bikeways (you can download it here). This plan has helped but Southwest Bike Boulevards on the map and the Bureau of Transportation has taken notice.
Still, this part of our city is largely terra incognita for us here at BikePortland, and we’re really looking forward to this event as a way to get to know the area, its issues, and its bike-riding residents.
Tuesday is an all-day happy hour at the this Lucky Lab location and you can find us in their upstairs event space.
This should be a lot of fun — we’ll look forward to seeing many of you there. Feel free to chime in down in the comments if there are any Southwest-specific topics hot on your mind. To study up on Southwest Portland bike news, browse our “Southwest Portland” tag.
