Cyclocross Tip: Hire your own pit mechanic

The big US Gran Prix of Cyclocross comes to Portland this weekend and local mechanic Jason Pfeifer wants to be your mechanic. Pfeifer — the man behind SimpleBicycle.com, a service we mentioned back in August — is now offering professional pit mechanic services to anyone who’s competing.

Pfeifer has extensive experience wrenching in cyclocross races. He’s worked neutral support for Shimano for ten years, including three years at ‘Cross National Championships.

As your very own mechanic on race day, Pfeifer will make sure your bike is in tip-top shape, he’ll offer starting line support (encouragement, umbrella, hold your jacket, etc…), will handle your bike changes during the race, and more.

Sounds like a great idea. For more details, see Pfeifer’s posting to the OBRA email list and get info on booking him at SimpleBicycle.com.
