The Bureau of Transportation has just installed three more on-street bike corrals in North Portland. These are just the latest in an ongoing effort to install more bike parking in front of businesses throughout the city.
The new corrals in North Portland are on Michigan Avenue, Albina Avenue, and Mississippi Avenue.
In front of Saraveza Pub (corner of Michigan and Killingsworth), PBOT has installed six staple racks with a capacity for 12 bikes in a space that formerly fit just one car. Popular coffee spot Albina Press (Blandena and Albina) now has nine staples adjacent to their outside seating on N. Blandena. A bit further south, at the new German pub Prost, PBOT has installed nine staple racks on Mississippi Avenue just south of Skidmore.
According to PBOT’s bike corral project manager Sarah Figliozzi, there are now 46 on-street bike corrals throughtout the city. Other recent installations include a corral in front of BiPartisan Coffee on SE 78th and Stark in the Montavilla Neighborhood and one in front of Cup and Saucer on NE 30th and Killingsworth.
