Tonight in Southeast Portland, U.S. Congressman Earl Blumenauer, Oregon State Representatives Ben Cannon and Jackie Dingfelder (recently elected to the Senate) will host a Global Warming Town Hall.
Among the topics the trio will discuss include, “transportation options, energy efficiency, renewable energy and energy costs, land use planning, green jobs, public health, and more.”
All three of these politicians have been known to be quite bike-friendly in the past. We all know about Blumenauer’s bike credentials, and Dingfelder is a regular ally of the BTA and former Alice Award winner.
I met and rode with Ben Cannon at a ride last year and I have feeling we’ll be hearing a lot more from this 32 year-old Southeast Portland resident (and former Rhodes Scholar) this year.
It’s an understatement to say that global warming and transportation will be very hot topics in 2009 (both at the state and national levels) and it’s good to see our representatives looking for input, feedback and ideas from the community. If you have thoughts about what direction Oregon and our country should be headed in this regard, show up tonight and make your voice heard.
