Momentum bumps up Portland distribution

Momentum is based in
Portland’s sister cycling city,
Vancouver BC.

Vancouver, BC-based Momentum Magazine, has expanded their distribution in Portland.

Editor Amy Walker says she wants to get the magazine in front of more Portland faces and to do it, they’ve contracted with the same distribution service used by the Portland Mercury.

In addition to Portland, Momentum has also expanded into New York, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Francisco and Seattle.

Walker says the move was made into “cities with a healthy bike culture” and she hopes the move will expand the magazine’s advertising base. “To survive we need to get more ads,” she said from her office in Vancouver today, “and to get more ads we need more distrubution.”

The magazine, which began in 2001 and regularly features stories on Portland bike news and culture, is also distributed throughout Canada. This month a total of 15,000 copies have been mailed out, but they hope to “bump that up next issue.”

In other Portland bike magazine news, a new bike news publication (yet to be named) will launch in March. Stay tuned for that story…
