This could be you. Crater Lake’s legendary Rim Drive will be carfree on Saturday!

Welcome to the weekend. The forecast should be exciting with plenty of sun and maybe even a bit of it in liquid form.

Like the weather, our selection of rides and events is anything but boring. Saturday is the first of two where driving will be prohibited on Crater Lake’s Rim Drive. That means bicycle riders will have run of the place. Closer to home, there’s a full weekend of riding planned around Stub Stewart as part of the BQ Un-Meeting. As a bonus, don’t forget that tonight (Thursday, 9/12) is the fundraiser for Oregon Timber Trail at Base Camp Brewing where they’ll give away a ton of awesome prizes including a brand new Giant Trance full-suspension MTB.

All the details are below. Have fun out there!

Friday, September 13th

Midnight Mystery Ride – 11:45 pm at location TBD
Friday is the night to meet up with a big group of bike-minded individuals and chart a course for fun and adventure through the sleepy streets of Portland. Remember to check the MMR site for meet-up spot and details before the ride. More info here.

Saturday, September 14th

Crater Lake Rim Ride – 7:00 am at Crater Lake National Park
The National Park Service bans cars on the glorious road around Crater Lake for two Saturdays a year. Show up on your own or join an organized ride with all the supportive trimmings and experience an unforgettable day in the saddle. Note: Class I e-bikes are permitted. More info here.

Gran Prix Luciano Bailey #3 Corn Cross – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at Liepold Farms (Boring)
The third stop for GPLB ventures south to Boring for a classic farm race. Expect a course with all the ingredients racers love and setting spectators will enjoy as well. More info here.

Bicycle Quarterly Un-Meeting – 9:00 am at Stub Stewart State Park
Bicycle Quarterly publisher and editor Jan Heine is hosting his annual get together just outside Portland! Roll out to Stub for a full weekend of rides (curated by OMTM) and camaraderie. Many will ride out Friday, camp at the hike-in sites, and ride Saturday and Sunday. Event is free and no registration is required. Everyone is welcome! More info here.

Sunday, September 15th

Transportation Camp Unconference – All day at Doubletree Hotel (NE)
This “inclusive, forward-thinking event” will be a great learning and networking opportunity for transportation professionals from all backgrounds. More info here.

PDX Tracklocross – 12:00 pm at Gateway Green (NE)
Grab your fixed-gear and get ready to roost off-road at this first in a series of events put on by the Portland Urban Bike FB group and Cobra Racing, and sponsored by Retrogression bike shop, Chrome, Blaqpaks, and Still Pour. More info here.
