I’ve got two Portland bike business tidbits to share.

Pedal Bike Tours is currently ranked as the #1 tour on the Things to Do in Portland page of the juggernaut tourism website TripAdvisor.com (they claim to host 40 million reviews); beating out walking tours, food tours, and even rides on the Willamette River jet boats. So far, Pedal Bike Tours has a perfect rating by all of its 25 reviewers.

Todd Roll, who launched the business back in November 2008, has created a very successful operation. He recently moved into his own building on SW 2nd Avenue downtown. His green T-shirt clad ride leaders can be seen all over town leading smiling visitors on a wide variety of tours.

In other bike business news, Portlanders David Kuch has launched Bicycle Repair Man PDX. A former bike shop owner with 30 years of experience as a mechanic, David offers one-on-one or group tutorials custom designed for your needs. Sessions take place at his fully equipped workshop in Northeast Portland and he promises you’ll come away, “a master of your bicycle.” David’s fee is $40 per hour and he offers a sliding scale for folks on a fixed or limited income.

It’s great to see such a flourishing bike business sector here in Portland. For more business coverage see our archives.
