Filmed by Bike releases list of films for 2011 festival

Filmed by Bike has just released the list of 37 films that have made the cut for their 2011 festival. Event director Ayleen Crotty says that over 100 films were submitted and that the festival jury spent two days reviewing and discussing films.

You’ll see some familiar names on this list as several of the movies have been covered here in some form before.

View the list below…

Merritt Raitt’s highly entertaining Tour de France-inspired, Commuter Dreams, has been accepted this time around. Raitt’s film exploded on the web after it didn’t make it into Filmed by Bike last year and has since been viewed over 50,000 times on YouTube. The film even earned Raitt a VIP trip to the Tour de France to meet legendary tour announcers Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwen.

Also on the list is Remember Your First Bike?, a documentary on the Community Cycling Center’s Holiday Bike Drive by local filmmaker Chad Berkley. We got a sneak peek at the film back in October and I’m very eager to see how it turned out.

Other films on the list that caught my eye include the latest from the Rejuiced Bikes crew, The Bike-Car Rescue and the hilarious bike light PSA from the Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA), Strategies for Getting Around Without Bike Lights (or Pants).

Congrats to all the filmmakers!

The 9th annual Filmed by Bike is set for April 15-17th at the Clinton Street Theater. The festival will feature three days of bike movies, nine programs, thousands of attendees, and lots of fun! Learn more at FilmedbyBike.org.
