Saturday was the big Winter Cycle party where we chose the winners of the Nutcase Helmet Design Contest. It was a big turnout and we had a lot of fun. But before getting into the photos and recap, some thanks are in order…
The party and the contest was thanks to Mike Hood from 94.7 FM. About a year ago, Mike approached BikePortland with a plan to get more information about bicycling onto their popular FM radio station. Since then, we’ve built a nice partnership — and thanks to the support of great local companies like Clever Cycles and Nutcase Helmets (and several others over the past year), we’ve been able to keep it going strong. Thanks Mike!
Now, onto the fun…
We were lucky to have Nutcase founder and owner Michael Morrow in attendance. He used his helmet design expertise to help us pick a winner. 1st prize, a $500 Clever Cycles gift card, went to Maddision S. for this nicely conceived snail design:
And we decided to give another prize for what we thought was a kids design — but it turned out to be drawn by an adult. Regardless, we thought “A perfect day” was deserving of a $100 Clever Cycles gift card:
The crowd on Saturday was lively and fun. It was great to see so many kids and families as well as bike fans of all ages. We did a bit of trivia, enjoyed some free beverages and snacks, and took our time browsing the nearly 100 helmet design contest entries.
On that note, Clever Cycles announced today that they’re keeping the good times rolling with a “People’s Choice” contest. The design with the most “likes” on Facebook will earn its creator a $50 gift card and five people will win a $10 gift card just for voting!
Thanks again to 94.7 FM and Clever Cycles for making this happen. Listen for our spots on the radio and stay tuned for more great events this spring and summer.
