This Sunday is the North Portland edition of the City of Portland’s Sunday Parkways event.

Compared to last year, Sunday’s event will be much larger, with two loops and over 7 miles of closed streets and organizers tell us there are also a lot more bands, food vendors, and activities planned. Most of the action will be at the three parks along the route; Kenton, Arbor Lodge and Peninsula.

Bring the kids! At Sunday Parkways

If you’ve got kids, you don’t want to miss the “Youth Ready Rider” workshops at Peninsula Park. Providence Bridge Pedal has team up with the Bicycle Transportation Alliance and the City’s Safer Routes to Schools program. They’ll have loaner bikes and helmets available for everyone and they’ll teach your little ones how to become responsible and confident riders.

Bridge Pedal wants to get kids ready for their big ride in August where all kids under 15 get to ride for free. They’ll offer the workshops every hour on the hour from 9AM – 4PM. Meet at the Peninsula Park tennis courts (northeast corner at Rosa Parks and N. Kerby).

It’s also Father’s Day on Sunday, so get show up with your dad for extra bonus points! This event is a true gift to our neighborhoods so round up all your friends and let’s make it a big success.
