Organizers of the second annual Pinot Pedal will donate registration proceeds and a percentage of sales from a Pearl District wine retailer to help raise funds for a bicycle and pedestrian bridge over Interstate 405.
The ride, which is sponsored by Urban Wineworks and Bishop Creek Cellars, will offer participants their choice of 16 or 27 mile routes through North and Northeast Portland and will end with a party at Urban Wineworks in the Pearl District.
Pinot Pedal is the first official fundraiser for the NW Flanders Bridge Project. Backers of the $5.5 million project have to raise an estimated $500,000 (the other funds are coming from a variety of state and local sources) if they want to use the historic Sauvie Island bridge span for the Flanders overcrossing (read more about the project here).
The event is slated for April 27th and online registration is now open.
See the official event website for route details and more information.
