Back in December, a truck accidentally rammed into the wall of the Community Cycling Center’s offices in Northeast Portland. The impact of that collision caused thousands of dollars in damage and forced the non-profit to scramble for space.
Since the accident, six employees had to work in local coffee-shops and nine staffers have crammed into an adjacent office that is meant to hold only five. The CCC faced a big cleanup and had to purchase new equipment and office furniture.
But fortunately, things are about to change for the better, for good.
Next week, the CCC will move its administrative offices from NE Alberta and 17th (where they’ve been for 12 years), to a new building on NE Martin Luther King Blvd. (between Shaver and Failing Streets).
The CCC’s development and communications director, Alison Hill, says the staff is very excited for the move. Not only is the new office in a certified green building with features like bike lockers and showers; but the old location will now have much more space for their retail bike shop and more elbow-room for to accommodate their growing list of programs.
The CCC expects to be working in their new office by April 11th and plans are on the table for an open house celebration this summer.
