Industry News

The newly-opened Dutch, cargo and utility bike shop Clever Cycles, is featured in the latest issue of Bicycle Retailer and Industry News Magazine.

In their “Retail Briefs” section, the article says that thanks to the shop, “Portlanders are embracing what the owners call the Dutch bike revolution.”

The piece also has this quote from shop co-owner Todd Fahrner (who recently wrote about “Dutchness” on the shop’s blog):

“Opening a shop here was a natural expression of what we love about Portland, and the potential we see for it to help model a future beyond car dependence in America, particularly in its older cities designed without cars in mind.”

Clever Cycles sold out of their first container of bakfiets before the doors even opened and now they’re well on their way to running out of their second shipment.
