Forum members plan bike path clean-up

This Sunday, at 10AM several members of the Portland Bike Forums will meet up at Gateway Transit Center to clean up the I-205 bike path.

It all started with a post to the forums on April 2nd by “Oldguyonabike”,

“Along with Spring flowers come warm weather and more shattered beer bottles along the 205 bike path. I just changed my 2nd flat in so many months. There’s no magic disappearing glass fairie. We all know Trimet has a lot more going on out here than to clean the bike paths so I went over to Target a few days ago and got a small wisk broom…during the commute I’ve been trying to stop once or twice to sweep away the especially large glass clusters that wedge into and cut through our tires.

Anyone care to join me? Together we may save a few tubes.”

As other forum members chimed in, a user named “tvhwy” decided to make it an official event. Now the plan is to work on the path for a few hours and then grab drinks and lunch. So far 5-6 forum members have said they’ll attend.

I just love to see people using the forums to make connections that make Portland a better place to ride!

I hope to post photos and a report on Monday.
