Portland’s mini-bike enthusiasts (a.k.a. the Zoobombers) are busy planning their biggest and baddest ever Mini Bike Winter. The event, a “bike-centric series of events celebrating human powered culture,” will take place February 17-19th.
I attended a recent planning meeting to get the lowdown and now I understand what one Zoobomber meant when he said they are, “practically vibrating with excitement” over this event.
In addition to a slew of intriguing events, an international audience is expected to participate. Zoobomber Mykle Hansen wrote an article on the event in Canada’s Momentum Magazine, and perennial mini-bike evangelist Rev Phil is currently in Los Angeles extending invites to small-wheeled bike lovers of California.

In addition to new events like the Zoobomb Badass Challenge — where competitors must ride up the hill without MAX or engine and light a torch at the top — the standout looks to be a series of chariot events (yes, chariot).
Lord of the Chariots and master of mini-bike fashion Gabriel Amadeus (he made the flyer above) is leading the charge. In case you don’t have a mini-bike chariot sitting in the garage, Gabe is holding a chariot/trailer building workshop this Saturday (1/6) at 12 Noon (4205 NE 14th St.).
