PDOT employee Greg Raisman (photo) and filmmaker Clarence Eckerson have joined forces on a transportation film festival called, “A Celebration of Portland Transportation.”

The free event will take place at the Bagdad Theater in southeast Portland on from 2-4pm on October 28th.

From the event announcement:

“Come out for a series of locally made short films and live historical presentations highlighting how our community has created Portland’s world-class transportation system that serves families, seniors, walkers, bicyclists and businesses.”

According to Raisman the main film of the event tells Portland’s transportation story and features interviews with Mayor Potter, Commisioner Adams, Metro Councilor Rex Burkholder, TriMet General Manager Fred Hansen, former PDOT bike coordinator Mia Birk, citizen transportation activist Chris Smith, and others.

Sounds like a neat event and a great chance to learn more about what makes Portland, Portland.
