35th anniversary tour of ‘Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure’ will start in Portland

Official tour flyer.

35 years ago one of the most classic bike movies of all time lifted off. And next month it will land in Portland for a very special event.

Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, starring Paul Reubens, showed just how far some people will go for a bicycle they love. And there’s perhaps no city on earth where people love their bicycles more than Portland — so it’s fitting that a nationwide tour for the movie’s 35th anniversary would start here. And it’ll happen on Valentine’s Day!

According to the official tour home page, the first showing in the 20-city tour will happen at the Newmark Theater (1111 SW Broadway) on February 14th. Mr. Reubens himself will be in attendance and will share “amazing stories about the making of the movie” following the show.

A pre-sale for ticket purchases begins Tuesday 12/10 at 10:00 am. Tickets are $39-$65 and there are also special packages that include backstage access, merch, a photo-op with Reubens, and more. No word yet whether Pee-Wee’s bike will be on hand, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it made an appearance.
