A weekend to fly our flag.

This weekend feels like the calm before the storm. There are noticeably fewer events happening because it seems as though everyone is resting up a bit for the bike-riding, fun-having onslaught of June when Pedalpalooza — and a whole lot of other stuff — starts in earnest.

The Weekend Event Guide is sponsored by Abus Bike Locks. Thanks Abus!

But come on, we know you have a limitless reservoir of enthusiasm for riding bicycles and that no sunny and dry weekend should ever be wasted. And since it’s Memorial Day Weekend, you might want to take time to remember those who have served our great country and adorn your bicycle accordingly.

Check out our menu of rides and events below…

Saturday, May 27th

LapQuest at Stub Stewart – 8:30 am to 3:00 pm at Stub Stewart State Park (Buxton Trailhead)
A friendly competition to see who can ride the most laps of the stellar Stub trails. It’s not a race but a challenging group ride and social event to celebrate the hard work of many volunteers who have built and maintained the trails (event is only open to people who have volunteered!). Followed by a big BBQ at Buxton Trailhead. More info here.

Westside Adventure – 9:30 am at REI in Tanasbourne
This ride is offered by the Portland Wheelmen Touring Club. They’ll wind through North Plains, Roy, Banks, Jackson Quarry and more on an exploration of rural Washington County. Expect route options from 32-52 miles and a stop for coffee. More info here.
