The search continues today for Mark Bosworth, the Metro employee who went missing from the Cycle Oregon campsite in Riddle on Friday night.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any major leads or developments in the case at this time. However, since many people who read this site are friends or acquaintances of Mark’s, I want to keep everyone up to date.
Local media outlets are following the case closely. The Oregonian has sent reporter Stuart Tomlinson to Riddle to cover the case. Expect reports from him here. KOIN-TV reported a few minutes ago that law enforcement officials are following up on reports of a hitchhiker that could have been Mark who was seen near Riddle on Saturday morning.
Cycle Oregon ride director Jerry Norquist told me this morning that the command center for the search and rescue effort has been moved to the city of Roseburg. Roseburg is much larger than Riddle and Norquist said the move was done to make it easier to coordinate with volunteers and search staff. Norquist continues to stay personally on top of the situation and last I heard (few minutes ago) he was being debriefed in the office of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Also in Roseburg is a growing number of Mark’s family and friends who have come to help and await any word of his whereabouts.
Cycle Oregon has posted a photo of Mark and a statement on their Facebook news feed. Here’s an excerpt:
“We’re asking you to try to recall if you encountered Mark or have any idea of where he might have gone. Mark, pictured here, had complained of exhaustion and headaches, and may have been acting erratically Friday evening.”
