BikeCraft V is right around the corner. The daylong affair on Saturday, December 5 from 10am to 5pm, will be an unprecedented gathering of bike-themed, Portland-made arts and crafts.
Since we announced the event, we’ve had over 35 crafters sign up to participate, including old friends and new faces. Here are two of the many craftspeople who will be joining us this winter for the first time:
jDuct will have duct tape wallets as well as flasks like this one, made to “slide perfectly into the spandex shorts of the avid biker”:
And Paul Conte will bring these awesome bamboo bottle cages (he also makes a beautiful porteur rack).
Also new to BikeCraft this year:
- Jacob Freepons will be bringing hand made fenders
- Brian Echerer’s earrings and bracelets from upcycled bike parts
- Gigi’s Handy Work brings you the Helmuff: wooly ear muffs that attach to your helmet strap
- Leeta Stoughton makes silkscreened armwarmers and classy cycling shirts for women
- Fred Nemo will share his bicycle inspired metal sculptures
- Sara Stout will have unique, hand-sewn bags for keeping your valuables secure and dry as you bike
- Kyrstin Westwind (of bike blender fame) is busy making bento bags and cycle cuffs
- Shawn Small of Ruckus Components will be there with his spun carbon crafts — we’ve got our fingers crossed that he’ll have his long-awaited fenders available
And have we mentioned indoor bike parking?! When you arrive at BikeCraft, you can roll your bike around the corner and through the garage door on NE 10th and Flanders where there will be indoor bike parking.
For the first time this year we’ll have food vendors available (by bike of course) — SoupCycle will have hot, delicious soup to help you warm up and fuel your browsing and socializing.
BikeCraft has grown up a bit this year. We’re lucky to have supporters in the community who are able to help us make it better than ever. Our sponsors include the venue’s property owner, branding company Twenty Four Seven, our kind and wonderful hosts at Sandbox Studio, bike parking provider extraordinaire BikeRacker, and bike-powered cleaners Q19 Greening.
