Friends of Eric Davidson — the 36-year old man who was the victim of a hit-and-run in Northeast Portland last May — are putting on a benefit dance to help defray his medical expenses.
Here’s the info:
In celebration of the almighty power of love, Nemo Design and Infinity Images will be hosting a Valentine’s Day dance and benefit on February 14, 2009 to raise money for our good friend Eric Davidson. The benefit will take place between 9pm and 1am at 1875 SE Belmont St. Portland, OR 97214.
Davidson suffered brain swelling after the crash and was in a medically induced coma for several weeks. He is now going through a major rehabilitation effort.
According to a press release sent out about the benefit event, the man that hit Davidson had only the minimum per-person insurance required by Oregon law for bodily hard and the payout was “only enough to cover Eric’s medical care for the first several hours after the crash”.
Davidson’s wife Anna-Carin has left her job to become his caregiver.
“Eric is home now after six months at the hospital,” says Anna-Carin. “The challenges we’re facing daily are extremely difficult—he is having to relearn the very basic skills we all take for granted as a person—and our financial situation is really rough. But Eric is a survivor, and he’s a fighter. He will get through this, I know it.”
