The City of Portland Office of Transportation has just announced the agenda and details for their 2008 Transportation Safety Summit. The event is slated for October 6th in the Portland Building Auditorium (1120 SW 5th Ave).
The Summit is being organized by PDOT’s Community and School Traffic Safety Partnership (CSTSP in wonk-speak), a program created in 2003 that funds safety and infrastructures projects through traffic fine revenue.
Commissioner and Mayor-elect Sam Adams and ODOT’s Region 1 manager Jason Tell will kick off the program with an address on the state of Portland’s transportation safety. The agenda will then include panels that will address issues such as; how recent trends in biking, walking, and transit are impacting traffic safety and how Portland’s traffic safety efforts could benefit from stronger ties in the public health community.
Also on the agenda is a networking session that will include tables and information on topics and organizations including; Portland’s Community Policing Agreement, the Eye to Eye Campaign (Bicycle Transportation Alliance), Legacy Hospital Trauma Nurses, Safer Routes to School, Coalition for a Livable Future, Elders in Action, the Willamette Pedestrian Coaltion, and more.
