Timbuk2 event will benefit local bike group

As part of their “Artist Originals” campaign, messenger bag manufacturer Timbuk2 is hosting an art charity event at the newly opened Ace Hotel in downtown Portland.

The event will coincide with the First Thursday art walk on June 7th.

Three artists will use Timbuk2’s Artist Canvas bag as their canvas to create original, one-of-a-kind works of art. The proceeds from sales of the bags will go to local non-profit groups.

Local artist Justin Gorman chose b.i.k.e. as the non-profit he wanted to help. b.i.k.e., which stands for Bicycles and Ideas for Kids’ Empowerment, is a Portland-based non-profit that, “facilitates the development of values and life skills essential for productive citizenship in inner-city youth through bicycling, tutoring, year-round mentoring, and leadership training.”
