Are you bike polo curious, but not quite ready to mix mallets with the Axles of Evil? If so, than you’ll want to check out Portland’s only bike polo for beginners.

It happens every Tuesday night from 6-8:00pm on the tennis courts just north of Shattuck Hall at SW Broadway and SW College streets.

Here’s the word from polo coordinator and PSU Bike Co-op manager Ian Stude:

“We play every week, unless it’s really raining. Bikes, Mallets, and Instruction are all provided. Participants only need to bring close-toed shoes and some moxie. Everyone is welcome, especially beginners!”

Local mechanic and polo veteran Tori Bortman is taking a break from her beginner polo sessions and she has donated a substantial amount of equipment to the PSU polo program.

Bike polo brings the best of team sports and strategy (it reminds me of soccer) to cycling and it favors technique and balance over fitness. I highly recommend giving it a shot!
