Portland is ga-ga for Amsterdam these days. Within days of bringing you the news of Portland’s first shipment of Dutch Bakfietsen, now comes the BTA’s Alice Awards party invitations.

The iconic Dutch windmill is prominent on the front of the invite (see above), and inside the BTA explains why they’re going with the Amsterdam theme:

“Through kids’ education programs, the bike boulevards campaign, our push for safer street design and our lobbying to make traffic safety a high priority, the BTA is helping Oregon and SW Washington look more and more like the Netherlands, a place where people of all ages and abilities can — and do — use bikes to move around their communities easily and efficiently. We’ll highlight what we’ve learned from the Dutch, and how we’re putting it into practice here at home.”

And in the auction, you can win a Bakfiets (courtesy of Clever Cycles) or an Electra Amsterdam, (courtesy of Bike Gallery).

There’s also been talk of a bakfiets test track…but so far that’s not confirmed. Go to AliceAwards.org for more information.
