Members of the Salmonberry Trail Intergovernmental Agency are excited to announce the opportunity to apply for membership on the Valley Segment Planning Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee. There are 10-15 seats available for committee membership for a term beginning in January 2018.

About the Ad-Hoc Advisory Committee
The committee will advise the Co-Conveners (Oregon Department of Forestry, Washington County, and the Washington County Visitor’s Association) on all matters related to development of the Salmonberry Trail in Washington County, including trail alignments, trailhead designs and funding priorities. The committee will be comprised of a cross-section of stakeholders, including representatives of local governments, adjacent landowners, community members, local business interests, potential trail user groups, and motivated and knowledgeable trail enthusiasts.
Member Qualifications
AAC members must:
Be a resident or business owner in the communities of Banks, Buxton, Forest Grove, Hillsboro, Manning, North Plains, Timber or have substantial interest in the development of the trail
Have good communication skills for working on a committee
Commit to attending up to five 2-hour meetings (night meetings, most likely held in Banks) and participating in the work of the committee
Contributes constructively and positively
Acts as a liaison to organizations they may represent
Appointed members will serve a one-year term (January 2018 – December 2018).Membership Selection Criteria
AAC members will be intentionally selected to include a diversity of perspectives on the committee. Preference will be given to applicants who:
Exhibit a commitment to the successful development of the Salmonberry Trail
Demonstrate an understanding of trail design issues
Contribute to demographic diversity on the committee
Contribute to geographic diversity on the committee
Contribute to a diversity of trail-related perspectives on the committee, such as any combination of the following demonstrated interests/perspectives:
– commercial/ business/ economic development knowledge
– adjacent landowner and/or local community member
– disability experience/ awareness of the different ways people “recreate”
– safety advocacy
– social or racial justice experience
– recreational user (such as leisure walking, running/ jogging, cycling, horse riding)
– children/ education/ youth engagement
– service to vulnerable communities/ underserved populationsApplication materials may be submitted November 27, 2017 through December 10, 2017. Selected members will be notified at the end of December 2017 for terms beginning January 2018.
