Route advisory: Interstate Bridge sidewalk will close next week for electrical work

If you ride between Portland and Vancouver via the Interstate Bridge, take note that the southbound sidewalk will close next week (January 11th – 15th). The official notice from the Oregon Dept. of Transportation is below:

Sidewalk on the SB Interstate Bridge will close days next week for electrical work

The sidewalk on the southbound span of the Interstate Bridge will be closed days next week for electrical work.

The closure will be in place 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Monday Jan. 11 and continuing through Friday Jan. 15.

The sidewalk will be open each night and the sidewalk on the northbound span will remain open at all times for bicyclists and pedestrians.

During the closure, detour signs will be in place to help sidewalk users.

The Interstate Bridge is jointly owned by Oregon and Washington and is maintained and operated by Oregon. The northbound span opened in 1917 and the southbound span in 1958.
