It’s that time of the summer: the solstice has slipped past, the afternoons are getting seriously hot, and that “do I really want to go to a bike ride tonight” feeling is giving way to the realization that Pedalpalooza comes but once a year.

As Portland’s inimitable bike festival heads into its third and final week, we thought we’d help you suck the marrow out of June 2015 by highlighting a few of the most interesting weekday rides. Check back later this week for our usual Weekend Event Guide to bring you into Pedalpalooza’s big finish, including what’s looking like an 80-degree World Naked Bike Ride…

Jesus on a Bike Ride music video shoot – Monday, 5:45-8:45pm, 4629 SE 64th Ave
“A ride of biblical proportions. Put on your holiest attire and ride with Jesus on a Bike. We’re shooting a music video for youtube … It’s a punk rock interpretation highlighting Jesus as a radical who wanted to bring down the corrupt systems he saw around him. More storytelling, less dogma! Appropriate for all ages.”

Movie Goers Ride – Monday, 6 pm, USS Oregon Memorial, SW Oak and Naito Parkway
“This ride will visit several sites in Portland where movies were filmed. At each stop we will set the scene for the movie filmed there and take turns speaking lines from the movie. We will provide the dialog with the characters names and what they said at that site. The ride will end at a pub.”

Broken Bicycles Tom Waits Ride – Tuesday, 6 pm, Billy Ray’s Dive Bar, 2216 NE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd
A boozy Tom Waits themed ride for Pedalpalooza through Portland’s dives… We’ll start at Billy Rays Dive and go from there, blasting Waits music the whole time. Hitting up the Sandy Hut at 6ish…. then Ship Ahoy Tavern 7:15ish… then heading to the Plaid on SE 12th for a BYOB run for a quick dance party under the Hawthorne Bridge… We’ll be ending around 9:30pm at the Hungry Tiger for a screening of Down By Law, starting around 10pm…or whenever we all show up.

Hidden Portland Interactive Art Ride – Wednesday, 5:30 pm, Wishing Tree, NE 7th & Morris
We’ll make our wishes and then head on to interact with art made by neighbors around NE and SE Portland, adding a little of our own along the way. Get creative, bring an idea or props for your own impromptu installation or performance piece. We’ll be bringing rubber duckies to hitch to curbside horse rings and magnetic poetry to place at biking hot spots. Think outside the box and join in on the fun that makes Portland awesome! We’ll be making a stop at a food cart pod to fuel our creative processes, so bring some funds or pack a snack to munch on.

Gather ye Timelords, Solar Slingshotters, Time Bandits, Loopers, and Quantom Leppers for a time-locked event. Meet at 5:30pm (galactic standard time) at the propeller behind OMSI. We will be ending within 2 miles of the start at a time traveling bar that changes names depending on your perspective.
