Welcome to your menu of weekend rides and events, lovingly brought to you by our friends at Hopworks Urban Brewery.
Even with a bit of wet stuff that might fall from the sky this weekend, it will still be nice and toasty. Hopefully you have some time to get on a bike.
I was actually surprised at how thin the official event offerings are for the next three days. If you have an event you’d like to see below, drop us a line and we’ll add it to the list.
Friday, March 13th
Endless Summer Sunset Ride – 7:00 pm at Colonel Summers Park (SE Belmont and 20th)
The weather will be perfect, so why not do a night ride? The leader of this sunset cruise says the vibe will be “easy, chill, and fun.” Consider it a warm-up for Pedalpalooza. More info here.
Saturday, March 14th
River City/Sorella Forte Women’s Group Ride – 9:00 am from River City Bicycles (706 SE MLK)
If you’re just getting into cycling and ready to ride in a group, come out and roll with the members of Sorella Forte Cycling Club. This will be an intermediate-level ride with a pace of about 15-17 mph. Ride happens rain or shine! More info here.
Dalles Mtn 60 – 10:00 from Holstein’s Coffee Co in The Dalles (811 E 3rd Street)
The original ride that “started it all” according to its founders at VeloDirt.com. This unsanctioned group ride (VeloDirt publicizes the route but is not an official leader) is a perfect introduction to gravel riding. Expect wide open skies, a summit of Dalles Mtn, a ride by Stonehenge, and other surprises. More info here.
Sunday, March 15th
Dirty Circles Race Series (final event) – All day in Woodland, WA (3805 Dike Rd)
For you road racers out there, this is the final weekend in the Dirty Circles series. This course is a relatively flat 6-mile loop, which makes it a great training race to test your early season fitness. You’ll need an OBRA license to compete. More info here.
Bike Milwaukie Monthly Ride – 9:30 am at City Hall (10722 SE Main Street)
This ride will venture into Milwaukie neighborhoods for an 8-mile loop. Expect about 2 hours of riding. More info here (FB).
Cycle and Sip Sunday – 9:30 am at Evergreen Water Park in McMinnville (500 Northeast Captain Michael King Smith Way)
If you love Oregon wine, this is the ride for you. Roll down to McMinnville for one of the first event rides of the year. $60 entry fee gets you a long-sleeve T-shirt and entry into the Wine & Food Classic show. More info here.
Scenic Highway and Back – 10:00 am from Wilshire Park (NE Skidmore and 33rd)
Join the Portland Wheelmen Touring Club for a jaunt out east. They’ll ride out to the Gresham-Fairview Trail, then take Stark to the Scenic Hwy 30 and loop back through Troutdale. More info here.
