Welcome to your menu of weekend rides and events, lovingly brought to you by our friends at Hopworks Urban Brewery.

This weather has been too nice. Too nice to work, too nice to stay indoors. Thankfully the weekend is coming! And guess what? The temps are only getting warmer and I hear it might even reach 60-degrees on Sunday.

I hope you have something fun planned. If not, we’ve got a bunch of great suggestions for you.

Get out there and ride. After staring at the sun and blue sky all week, you deserve some quality time in the saddle.

Friday, January 23rd

Gold Sprints at Western Bikeworks – 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the shop (NW 17th and Lovejoy)

This is the first in a series of three Gold Sprints (a.k.a. roller races) events hosted by our friends at Western Bikeworks. Come down to their shop in the Pearl for some “anaerobic entertainment.” $5 entry fee is a benefit for the NW Trail Alliance and there will be lots of prizes for top male and female. Saturday, January 24th

Trail Work Party at Stub Stewart State Park – 8:45 am at State Park Welcome Center
Real mountain bikers put in work to build and maintain the trails they ride. This is your chance to join them and help keep one of the region’s best-kept riding secrets up to the NW Trail Alliance’s high standards. More info here.

North Portland Greenway Excursion Ride – 1:00 pm at Metropolis Cycle Repair (2249 N Williams Ave)
Join intrepid ride leader Tom Howe for a journey along the current and future North Portland Greenway path. They’ll roll through Swan Island along the Willamette, check out the new Waud Bluff path, the gorgeous University of Portland campus and head north to St. Johns. Expect a 20-mile loop with a focus on fun and socializing. More info here (FB).

Pearl Health Collaborative – 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Hosmer Chiropractic Health (1030 NW Marshall)
This first annual event will bring together a handful of businesses in the Pearl District that focus on health, wellness, and fitness. Among them are several bike-oriented businesses including host Hosmer Chiropractic Health, Portland Bicycle Studio, Nossa Familia Coffee and Burn Cycle. This will be a great chance to get to know coaches, trainers, gear experts, nutrition gurus, and more in an informal atmosphere. Snacks, wine, and coffee will be provided. And it’s free! Sunday, January 25th

NW Trail Alliance Group MTB Ride – 8:00 am at Universal Cycles (2202 E Burnside)
This week’s ride will tackle the Wilson River Trail just west of Forest Grove off Highway 6. This trail is known for tight singletrack and a few tough climbs. It should be in great shape this time of year — if not a big overgrown in spots. More info here (FB).

River City Bicycles Adventure Ride – 9:00 am at River City Bicycles (706 SE MLK)
If you want to expand your riding horizons, consider joining this group ride. Road bikes are the order of the day, but be ready to tackle some hills and backroads (and maybe even a bit of gravel). It’s a “no-drop” ride and route lengths are about 35-50 miles with a moderate pace and some climbing. More info here.

Back in the Saddle Again – 10:00 am at corner of N Princeton and Carey in north Portland
Join the Portland Wheelmen Touring Club for what’s meant to be a perfect introduction to the club and to road cycling in general. They’ll ride from Willamette Blvd out to Smith and Bybee Lakes via the Peninsula Crossing Trail. Pace will be set for novice/slower riders. More info here.

Bring Your Box Swap Meet – 12:00 to 5:00 pm at Velo Cult (1969 NE 42nd)
Got parts to sell? Put ’em in a box and bring them to Velo Cult. $10 entry fee gets you a space on the table and one free drink. More info here.

Oregon Bicycle Adventure Summit – 2:00 to 7:00 pm at Ninkasi Brewing in Eugene (155 Blair Blvd)
This is the place to get inspired and fill up your ride calendar for the year. This 2nd annual event brings together experts, event and ride promoters, and product manufacturers that specialize in adventurous riding. let us know and/or give it a shout-out in the comments.
